The 3Cs programme
Over the many years I have spent both as a leader myself and supporting senior executives, I have learned there are three themes that are central to leadership and career success.
Clarify – contribute – communicate
I use this model in my 1-2-1 coaching, but it is also the basis for building bespoke programmes and workshops for organisations.
Below is just a flavour of the tried and tested approaches I have used.
Clarify – the roadmap builder
This first stage on our journey is about getting really specific about what you are here to do; defining your vision, the goals and milestones along the way.
We define what success will look like and importantly, how you will know when you have been successful and how you measure it.
And as part of developing your brand and unique selling points, we pin down what you want your clients and customers to think, feel and do when they hear your business name.
We will then move on to start building the plan that will get you to where you want to be, committing to a timeline; determining what resources and skills you need and where you will get them from; and what activities you need to undertake when and who will do them.
Contribute – the collaboration enhancer
The sum of the parts is greater than the whole.
As a collaborative leader you are in a great position because you know that you don’t have to build your roadmap alone. You don’t have to be and can’t be the expert in everything; you have subject matter experts in your business and in other organisations you work with.
Strong collaboration from the top down and bottom up is crucial in getting the best out of your workforce and getting them to share responsibility with you for developing your roadmap and achieving your company’s mission.
Staff engagement is also widely recognised as a best practice enabler of productivity. Wouldn’t it be great if you could achieve more with exactly the same resource?
So, we will test, refine and develop your roadmap strategy in consultation with your staff.
We look at how you can leverage your team member strengths to maximise success, how you make sure you understand the strengths of individual team members and that they understand one another’s.
And how you can agree with your people the ways you will encourage, recognise and reward ideas and innovation.
Innovation and entrepreneurial leadership are often about taking risk so we calibrate your appetite for the new and untested. And then we identify the routes to enabling your people to experiment with new ways of working.
We also galvanise your personal brand, ensuring you are seen as a visible and accessible leader; not a distant figurehead, nor one that is overbearing. You want to lead, and empower.
Communicate – the conversation creator
Communications is a two-way thing. Staff, customers and clients all like and want to be listened to and engaged with. In return they will give you valuable insight and intelligence that will accelerate your achievements.
We will develop the strategy and channels that are right for you and your audience, both for you to have the conversations and then do something with what you learn.
